Seattle Times article about gun bill is not, or is no longer true.

Update: 02.21.13, the referenced Bill has now been pulled.

Seattle Times article, "Misstep in gun bill may defeat the effort", about a Washington State bill with language to require yearly police inspection of assault weapon owners homes is no longer valid.  The text that is supposed to be included in the bill, giving the County Sheriff the power to do yearly inspections has either been pulled from the bill, or was never included.  In any case the article is no longer true.

A search of Senate Bill 5737 for the specific language spelled out in the Seattle Times article reveals that there is no such text.  Text that is similar to the text in the Seattle Times article does not contain any inspection requirements.

It may be that language such as was reported in the Seattle Times was once in the bill but it got so much publicity and heat that it has been withdrawn.

If the language was once in the bill but it's not there any longer, it is good news for the Second Amendment supporters.  What this means is that the people wrote it realized that it was unconstitutional and changed it.

Of course, if the language was never there it means that the Seattle Times printed an erroneous news article.  As if that never happens!
